A Bit About Us
Working Towards a Better Tomorrow
Here at Guernsey County Dog Shelter, we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, and since our beginnings in 2015, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Dog Shelter upon support, empowerment, and progress. Learn more about our mission, our vision, and how we go about making the changes we want to see.
Facility Guidelines
Parents will be responsible at all times for their child(ren) while in the kennel area.
Do not open any cage without assistance from the kennel personnel.
Do not put your hands or any other body part inside any cage, or any object.
Do not feed any dog without approval from the kennel staff.
Do not provoke or tease any dog by pounding or banging on the cages, or by any other means.
Do not run or jump in the kennel area.
Do not remove any tag or label from the cages.
Do not smoke, drink, or eat in the kennel area.
If you plan to interact with the dogs, please keep in mind that dogs have the tendency to jump when excited, so you may want to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, etc for your protection
Please use caution when walking through the kennels. The floors are often wet and slippery due to frequent cleaning of cages
Please keep in mind if you choose to interact with a dog, you are doing so at your own risk. If you are injured in any way during your interaction with a dog at our facility, The Guernsey County Dog Shelter, The Guernsey County Sheriff's, and The Guernsey County Commissioners and its employees cannot be held responsible
Always ask the kennel staff for assistance. The kennel staff will be in a blue shirt that says "Staff on the back. They would be more than happy to assist you.
